Small Phi Phi of the Gulf of Thailand.
The great creation of the world’s famous creative named “Nature” nestled abort 200 m from the southern tip of Koh Chang. The two islands linked by a hundred meter white clean sandbar offers the scene of two curved bays. Almost the same as Koh Phi Phi Don of Krabi, one of the world’s most fantastic islands. Koh Ngam is so-called the small Phi Phi of the Gulf of Thailand.

Location: About 200 m from the southern tip of Koh Chang.
How to get there: : Use the package tour of Salakphet Homestay Village or rent the boat from Salakphet Bay, the nearest area from Koh Ngam.

Attractions: The two small islands linked by the sandbar of about 100 m long and 25 m wide with the lines of coconut trees connecting the Northern and Southern Islands. The two curved sandy beaches of the crescent moon shape at both sides have the length of about 100 m. These features are almost the same as Koh Phi Phi Don of Krabi but the size of Koh Ngam and its sandbar is smaller.
This island has been called by the tourest “The small Phi Phi of the Gulf of Thailand”.

Besides swimming in the two bays which look like the large swimming pools, there is also the trail passing the rocks and hill of 80 m high down to the island at the front. The 50 m long white beach shaded by trees is rested with some destroyed coral reef scattering around looking like the coral reefs cemetery. This area is also the viewpoint to watch the scenery of several islands of Trat Sea such as Koh Chang, Koh Mak, Koh wai, Koh Laoya etc.

Koh Ngam is nowadays under the responsibility of Mu Koh Chang Nationnal Park. The officers plan to set the Ranger Unit of the National Park together with tourist’s accommodation and tour service center very soon since there is no resort to provide the service.

Location: South of Koh Chang at Salakphet Bay, about 2 km from Ban Saoakphet.
How to get there: The last village along the east of Koh Chang from the left of Dan Kao Pier. Drive along the road to Ban Salakphet to the end of the road at Ban Rong Than.

The small village that used to be the fertile mangrove forests. Chinese and Vietnamese people migrated to stay here and make the charcoal as their occupation. At present, only some places of charcoal making are seen which was the source of the name “Ban Rong Than”. Villagers are mostly fishermen living in the houses of wooden pillars stretching to the sea. The temple called Wat Rong Than is located on the hill behind the village. From the hill, you will see panorama of Salakphet Bay.

No swimming area and no beach. Only homestay houses and some local residences with restaurants and boat service are found. Contact for information at the followings:Salakphet Seafood & Resort

Location: South of Koh Chang at Salakphet Bay, about 27 km from Dan Kao Pier.
How to get there: Turn left from Dan Kao Pier to Ban Salakphet Crossroad and turn right for 8 km to Trat Market , walk to Wat Klang, the temple near the intersection where you can take the mini-bus service to Ban Salakphet. The bus will leave at 10.00, 13.00 and 15.00 hr, the fare including the ferryboat service is 50 baht each. The mini-bus will board the ferryboat at Center Point Pier, reach Koh Chang at the way back the bus will leave Ban Rong Than at 05.00, 07.00, 11.00 and 13.00 hr to Trat Charging 50 baht per person.

Salakphet Bay is the large bay of semicircle shape with high mountains as the block of wind. It is consequently the safe area of no storm where fishermen like to park their boats. This village was so-called the Texas of Koh Chang due to many boats floating at the area and many fishermen. Although Ban Salakphet is now the quiet place, It is still charming having a lot of elevated houses on the pillars stretching to the sea with wooden bridges between each house as the piers. The sunrise scenery here is very fantastic. The beach has no swimming area but has Loh Laoya, Koh Wai and Koh Mai Si.

Koh Chang’s highest mountain peak is located at Ban Slakphet called Salakphet Mountain Peak. If you plan to reach the peak, contact for the guide at the National Park Ranger Unit (Salakphet). The trek to Klong and khiriphet Waterfall starts from this

Ban Rim Nam at Salakpetch Bay being popular among Thai tourists because not only the homestay style that allows them to experience the local ways of life, they can also visit the islands nearby such as Koh Wai, Ngam or Mu Koh Rang at low cost.
